Photo-dump March 2013: I’ve been keeping myself busy this past few weeks so I only have few photos worth sharing, you see. I rarely go out and when I do, I don’t lug around my SLR as often as before anymore. The Bella Swan in me made me wear three to four layers of clothing. And. It. Just. Feels. Really. Heavy. As particular as I can be when it comes to colors and composition, commuting with a heavy equipment seems impractical. I just have to make do to taking photographs by phone for now. :)

Moving to UK from the Philippines definitely changed a lot in me, and will change more in me as I am still in my adjustment phase. I’ve lived a somewhat sheltered life back,and I want to expose myself into a lot more things - new cultures, a different world — and throw myself to the opportunities I’ll come across with. Because of this, I want to document my life as much as possible. I had a lot of good memories back in high school and college (I started blogging at 13), and I regret not writing them down in journals and taking my blog for granted. I reckon it would be fun looking back how good and vibrant (or bad, dull, and silly) I am living my life at this very moment when my future self is already a few years wiser.So yeah, I would really like to try to express my thoughts into words now, like the good ol’ blogging days.

My Style Statement inspired by The Ramp Crossings

Even way back in college, my style was either edgy (top, leggings, accessories and knee-high boots) or girly and sophisticated (skirts, dresses, ruffles, wedge/high heels). Yes, they may have been close to being mutually exclusive but I’ve never had a problem getting my fashion fix. The Ramp-Trinoma has always been my go-to store during shopping sprees and fashion emergencies.

Years after, I’ve learned to dress up and be more flexible in my fashion choices. Take this fashion statement for example, Down to Earth, which is a perfect combination of edgy sophistication perfect for a casual date at the mall to a night of partying and socializing.

Everything else stays the same - it still houses the online brands I love, it still keeps up with the latest fashion trends, it still has the classy pieces I can wear for smart-casual to semi-formal events. It will always be my one and only go-to store - yes, even when looking for skirts and blazers when a need for powerdress arises.

A few days ago, my friend Mae and I skipped a one-hour review class and talked a lot about random stuff until it went to one thing we both love - shoes.

Mae told me some stuff about Tory Burch, YSL, Louboutin and the like until she mentioned about Chie Mihara, a Japanese designer whose creations she totally adores. To be truthful, the name is unfamiliar. I never heard nor read about her while stalking and shoe-lusting over totally gorgeous Jeffrey Campbell Litas and browsing just as lovely pairs all over the web.

While checking out the collection from Chie Mihari’s website, I realized there is one thing common about every shoe she designs - she makes everything classy with a twist. Her creation is a fusion of the then and the now.

I’ve always been a picky eater. As a child I don’t eat veggies and pork, and I’ve always been hesitant to try out food that looks unfamiliar or sounds new to me. You can even give me a serving of giniling and I can sort it out (effortlessly) and leave those with even a little hint of taba in my plate.

If I get to pick foods to eat for the rest of my life, I’ll come up with these:

1) Bread with Duerr’s Strawberry Jam & Chamomile tea

I’ve been to Baguio a lot of times and brought jars of strawberry jam back home as pasalubong but that’s all there is to it. My love for strawberry ends with strawberry-picking. Then it all changed three months ago, the first time I was able to taste Duerr’s strawberry jam - not too fruity, just the way I like it.

My favorite is pairing it up with a french bread. No soft bread, please. The texture of the bread compliments the sweetness of the jam very well.

Of course I tried different supermarket brands, but just like a first love, you can never help going back.

2) Chocolate Cakes

I love chocolates - all of it. Hershey’s, Cadbury, Ferrero/Nutella, and even Milo powder. Lahat pinapatulan ko. There was even a time that I have 2 packs of Lala as my snack everyday. Yes Lala, the six-peso chocolate bar you’ll surely see when strolling along the sidewalks of Manila.

What do I love the most? It’s chocolate cake! Nothing beats Goldilock’s chocolate roll and Red Ribbon’s Chocolate Mouse. They are the sort of stuff you can never really get enough of. Birthdays, holidays, and even lazy days.. I just know I need to eat them. When it comes to these cakes, there is no such thing as too much.

See, even my friends know my undying love for chocolate cakes. This was their 18th birthday surprise a few years ago. :)

3) Pasta and Pizza

At the end of our first year and during our second year in college, my barkada used to frequent Yellow Cab Lacson branch or SM San Lazaro, be it for birthdays and other celebrations.

I love everything from Yellow Cab - their pizza, pasta and not to mention, HUGE meatballs that comes with it.

This is Aimee and I who arrived late during our friends’ birthday treat. Words can’t describe how hungry we were when we arrived so see for yourselves.

I owe it all to my college barkada. They made me realize how fun it is to explore and experience having a taste of everything - old and new. Because of them I am now a certified foodie.

French Macarons from The Cookie Jar. I got mine through purchasing Ensogo vouchers, so I got it really cheap. I texted Rae, The Cookie Jar’s owner, to confirm my order and she is kind enough to accommodate my order the first day of the claiming period.

So far I’ve only tried 3 out of 8 flavors: Red Velvet, Vanilla Buttercream and Chocolate. Red Velvet is my favorite, it’s not too sweet, so hindi nakakaumay. In fact that taste made me crave for more. At first I find the Chocolate flavor sweeter than the usual, but as soon as I ate my second serving I kept eating them over and over. Vanilla is so-so.

Mommy Ro of Animetric’s World told me that Pistacchio flavor is the best. So I’m ordering some next time. :)

Second Random Monday post!

I love taking candid shots because I find genuine smiles beautiful. Candid photos capture emotion like no other photoshoot can. Last Saturday was my senior class’ summer outing (never too late!) so I had the chance to take these photos using my zoom lens. :)

They might kill me if they saw this! Haha

“Every graduate in this auditorium, I believe, is still overwhelmed by the fact that he or she has survived the rigorous training given by our dear college. Accountancy is not easy, or better yet accountancy IN UST was NEVER easy,” this is how Janine Sy, one of our batch’s Magna Cum Laude, started with her speech. True. It never was. From the strict admission process, the retention policy, the demanding thesis together with much more demanding major subjects.. enduring two summers studying the whole day while everybody else is having fun basking in the sun - graduating was still a dream even a week before May 31.

Finally the hard-worked paid off, and it paid well. For everyone in my batch, this is a diploma well-deserved.

I’m a Thomasian and I’m proud to be one.

Review starts tomorrow so my 10-day vacation is now over. I won’t be having much free time then, so I decided to queue posts containing random photos every Monday. :)

As we were on our way to Roman Bath, Mom and I saw this. Two words: Breathtakingly beautiful. :) If the place looks familiar, you might have seen it in the movie Pride and Prejudice.

After roaming around the Bath, which thankfully is a very small place, we have enough time to walk around the area before going back to our tour bus. I love places like this, it looks so serene that if given the time, I could stay here for an entire day reading a good book or just sipping my

hot chocolate.

Mom, JM and my baby sister Gail arrive yesterday for my graduation. (Yes, I will be graduating this Tuesday.) Gail gave me this as her pasalubong. I told her my friends would laugh at me if they see me wearing this, haha. With LONDON in huge bold letters and red glitters, I will surely be attracting attention. Na-shy naman ako! But I love the shirt nonetheless. That is Gail wearing the shirt by the way, since I told her I wanted to take a picture.

Lee DeWyze Live! (Photo-heavy)

By the time I found out Lee DeWyze’s album tour M&G passes and VIP tickets were up for grabs in a twitter promo, I didn’t waste any time. You know what happens next <3

Not really a fan though. I’m not one whose eyes were glued onscreen when AI is airing. I’ve only learned about Lee DeWyze since my friend Jeanette posted his picture on her Facebook wall.

The weather on the day itself isn’t very friendly. The venue was moved to the Atrium. We arrived at Eastwood 2 hours earlier than required and just stayed at Mcdo where I can’t even use the store WiFi. :|

We fell in line and were eventually lead to our seats. 3rd row, YAY! A few minutes later, we (those with M&G passes) were escorted to Red Box for the Meet and Greet where Lee is staying. We waited longer than expected and were only able to meet Lee for a few minutes. I initially thought there will be like kamustahan (LOL) and stuff since there were only 26 of us, and I will be able to take pictures but — no, own cameras were not allowed since there is an official photographer. And only group shots with Lee, no indivudual shots.

Only two pictures. Sad. Ako nga nalungkot e, pano pa kung fan na fan ako. But I have to understand. I actually admire the organizers since they were very strict.

Mark Alain is the opening act. If you do not know him, I bet you heard his song instead. He sang the nakaka-LSS, Maghihintay.
